IM Xtreme FAQs
The following are some of the frequently asked questions about the IM Xtreme Games. Please feel free to contact Jay Watson, Brownsburg Swim Club, with any other questions you might have.
My child’s only 10 but has the scores to qualify as an 11 year old, can they swim-up?
No this meet is exclusively for 11 through 16 year olds as of the Age-Up date.
What is the qualifying period for the 2011 IMX Challenge meet?
The qualifying period is September 1, 2010 through November 13, 2011.
Where do I find my child’s IMX score?
- Create an account at USA Swimming which will automatically calculate an IMX score.
- If you would rather not create an account, USA Swimming website has a query tool to find your swimmer's IMX Score.
- You can use the USA Swimming website’s Power Point calculator to find out the points from each event swum.
My child’s scores are all from Long Course, do they qualify?
Although this meet is Short Course and requires Short Course entry times, a swimmer who achieved the qualifying standard in Long Course is able to swim. Any event for which they do not have a Short Course time, will be entered as a NT.
Do all the individual events need to be swum in a single IMX meet or single Invitational meet?
All the events need to be swum during the qualifying period. They must come from the same season, SC or LC. They cannot be combined from different SC seasons nor from SC and LC. They do not need to come from the same meet.
My child has enough Power Points to qualify, but has not completed all the events, can they participate?
That is the difference between Power Points and an IMX Score. Every swimmer must have legally completed all events in their age-group list to have an IMX Score and participate.
My child had the qualifying scores but has since aged up. Can they participate?
So long as all the swims comprising the IMX score were achieved during the qualifying period and the total IMX score exceeds the qualifying standard for that particular age, they can participate. Put another way, if a 11 year old has a qualifying IMX score consisting of scores achieved during the qualifying period, but ages up to 12 years old and therefore no longer has a qualifying score, they may still compete.
My child’s coach is not coming to the meet, but my child wants to participate, can they?
USA Swimming rules require every swimmer to be under the supervision of a coach. BBSC will be happy to serve that function for any visiting swimmer.
Is this meet run with Local Swimming Ccommittee Teams or individual teams?
An LSC can send a team, but they will not be eligible for the Team Awards.
